Mortal Kombat Komplete coming at you

In a press release that can only be described as a sub-editor’s nightmare, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment has announced a shiny “Komplete” edition of Mortal Kombat 2011 – last year’s awesomely gorey return for the series to its roots, and former glory.

Glaring past the numberous c-for-k supplantations, we were able to make out a few details before our eyes ruptured optical goo – the complete edition will smash up Mortal Kombat 2011, along with the 4 DLC characters, 15 classic skins and three classic fatalities for Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile.

The DLC characters are creepy blood-vixen Skarlet; blind samurai, Kenshi; purple climatologist/ninja, Rain; and everyone’s favourite murderer of sleeping children, Freddy Krueger.

If you recall, Mortal Kombat 2011 was pretty damn awesome, finally shunning that awkward 3D-plane movement and rather opting for more traditional 2D-plane brutality. The X-ray sequences were also a nice visceral touch.

Update: Mortal Kombat Komplete has been pegged for a 2 March 2012 release in South Africa, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
