World of Goo passes one million sales on iOS

11 January 2012

In news that’s just reminded me that I actually bought and instantly forgot about it months ago, 2D Boy has confirmed that World of Goo has made it up to and over the one million sales mark – presumably without collapsing into a trench somewhere along the way.

“World of Goo was released on iOS a little over a year ago, and some time in the wee hours of last night, someone was the millionth person to buy World of Goo on the App Store,” reads the announcement on the studio’s blog. ” Whoever you are, we wish you a long, healthy, and prosperous life!”

The majority of game sales at 79 percent, according to 2D Boy’s official stats, were for the universal version of the app, supporting both iPhone and iPad, while 17 percent were for the iPhone app. The small remainder of sales came from the Mac App Store.

The Android version of the game, released last month, has already been downloaded over 450,000 times, and sold 70,000 copies.

So, yeah. I should probably get around to playing it, but the important thing is that I was one of those million special people counted here. Were you?
