STALKER 2 development back on track

12 January 2012

Despite recent talks about GSC Game World going bust, and the team behind the iconic STALKER series being “almost completely dissolved”, it would seem that STALKER 2 development is continuing, according to the official STALKER Facebook profile.

“The Stalker team is extremely happy! Why? Because we are continuing work on Stalker 2 after the holidays,” reads a recent status update, which has since received over 2,000 “likes” and over 400 comments.

Rumours that the studio was facing closure begin surfacing towards the end of 2011. An “informed source” reportedly told a Ukranian news site that studio head Sergei Grigorovich made the announcement at a staff meeting, and that the studio would be shutting down due to personal reasons.

A tweet from the company later denied that it was closing down.

However, to confuse matters further, a later tweet then said: “We will do our best to continue. However, at this moment, nothing is certain.”

Today marks the first positive confirmation from the developer that STALKER 2 is not dead in the water, and we’re holding thumbs that it stays that way.
