The internet is ablaze with claims that Apple’s next generation tablet PC, the iPad 3, will be released in March 2012. The new iPad will supposedly have a higher resolution screen and a quad-core processor, according to Bloomberg.
Apple’s new tablet will also reportedly support next-generation LTE networks.
Bloomberg attributes its sources to three unnamed people who are supposedly familiar with the product. Apparently Apple’s manufacturing partners in Asia began ramping up production of the iPad 3 this month, and full volumes are expected to be reached by February.
Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook believes that the iPad 3 is just what Apple needs to fend of mounting competition from other tablet makers such as Samsung and Blackberry.
To date Apple has sold over 40 million iPads, generating at least $25.3 billion in revenue.
Naturally, Apple does not comment on rumour and speculation, and this report remains firmly fixed in rumour and speculation territory.
Having said that, the iPad 3 was predicted early this year, so there is most likely some truth to the reports.
