Skyrim patch 1.4 beta available for PC gamers

24 January 2012

Bethesda has just released a new patch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in beta form. The patch, which updates the game to version 1.4 beta, is available only to PC gamers and is now live on Steam.

To participate in the beta, players should login to Steam, click the “Steam” icon in the upper menu, navigate to the “Beta Participation” section and select “Change”. Players should then choose “Skyrim Beta” and select “OK”.

Bethesda warns against installing the patch, saying “This patch is still in development. Apply the update at your own risk and only if you are affected by issues listed in the fix notes.”

“Be sure to back up your saved games or simply be careful not to overwrite your existing saves. If you decide to opt out of the beta program, your old saves will still work with the current release of Skyrim (v 1.3).”
