26 January 2012

In news that will no doubt have hipsters the world over slam their Starbucks coffee together with choruses of “Cheers!” all around before grabbing their iPhones and sharing the news with their friends – Feral Interactive has today announced that Tropico 3: Gold Edition is now available on Mac OS!

Developed by Haemimont games and published by Kalypso Media, Tropico 3 was released on Windows and Xbox 360 three years back in 2009, and buried its way deeply into the hearts of management simulation lovers everywhere.

Feral Interactive, a company well-known for publishing and porting Windows games to Mac, has been hard at work on the series which is now available for $34.99 on the Apple store.

Below is a comparison of the minimum required specifications between Windows and Mac versions:

Mac OS
Windows
Processor 2.0 GHz Intel Mac 2.4 GHz CPU Single-core
RAM 2.0GB 1GB
GPU 256GB 256GB

However, users are advised that it doesn’t support Intel GMA integrated video chipsets, but that it does run on GeForce 9400M graphics cards or better.

Long live El Presidente!

Perhaps in another three years Mac users will be able to play Tropico 4, which was released to Xbox 360 and Windows in August last year.
