WAGE addresses Battlefield 3 hacker troubles

Battlefield PC players are likely aware of the hacking and cheating scourge that is currently plaguing the game.

Web Africa’s gaming service division has issued us with an update on their work on tackling the problem.

“With the current onslaught of hackers playing on local servers, we have taken a few steps forward, ensuring that we get this issue under control. Of course, while we were at it, we ironed out a few issues that some users were experiencing on our services,” said Web Africa Games Master, Robert Tait.

“Hackers need to go, we are all tired of them – we realised this after large numbers of comments posted on MyGaming forums and discussions locally. We have upped our game with streaming to various anti-cheat services, allowing a constant watch on the local yokels of our gaming community.”

“Considering SA has become a hotspot for international hackers due to the tighter regulations of international servers. We have tried to match regulations set out by internationally based servers,” said Tait, going on to outline the measures taken.

WAGE servers now stream to anti-cheat services such as GGC in a bid to remove the majority of flagged hackers.

Ban list synchronisation groups allow WAGE to propagate bans implemented against hackers. WAGE also plans to cooperate with other gaming service providers (GSPs).

A country-kicker has been added which denies access to those external to South Africa and immediate neighbouring countries.

Tait also confirmed that WAGE servers have been updated to Battlefield 3 version R19, and are operating optimally. “Lag reports have been few and far between,” he said.

“We’ve taken a zero-tolerance stance and will deal with hackers, and general rule-breakers found on our servers. We’ve also increased the number of administrators available specifically for the Battlefield 3 division who will assist players experiencing difficulties on our servers,” concluded Tait.
