In the interests of full disclosure, I should probably preface everything I write about Shogun 2 by saying I am a massive Shogun 2 fan boy, and therefore nothing I write about the game can ever be remotely objective.
With that out that way:
OMG GUYS! SEGA HAS ANNOUNCED THAT THE TOTAL WAR: SHOGUN 2 FALL OF THE SAMURAI STANDALONE EXPANSION IS BEING RELEASED ON 23 MARCH, 2012.
Phew! As testament to just how good Shogun 2 was received, Fall of the Samurai has been the most pre-ordered Total War game to date. Sega has even gone on the record and said that “thousands” of copies have already been pre-ordered, which is actually not that impressive.
The game will be set in 1863, and will deliver an expanded campaign map; new technology and building trees; and new features such as railways and naval bombardments.
“We’re delighted that the fans have resonated so positively and quickly towards the latest excellent instalment from Creative Assembly. Shogun 2 has built an incredible audience over the last 12 months and now Fall of the Samurai will continue to build the enjoyment”, said John Clark, director of Digital Distribution.
You won’t need the original Shogun 2 in order to play Fall of the Samurai, which is not to say you should not go buy it right now if you don’t already own it.
