DoGaming League

Registration for the 2012 DoGaming League season has wrapped up (barring two games, which will wrap up this month) and the final numbers are in.

The final teams and player figures are:

  • Call of Duty 4: 55 Teams
  • Modern Warfare 3: 90 Teams <- updated
  • Battlefield 3: 57 Teams
  • StarCraft 2: 157 Players
  • FIFA 12 PS3: 77 Players
  • FIFA 12 Xbox: 42 Players
  • Forza 4: 33 Players
  • Gran Turismo 5: 60 Players
  • Modern Warfare 3 PS3: 17 Teams
  • Modern Warfare 3 Xbox: 13 Teams

Registration is still open for the following games:

  • Gears of War 3: 4 Teams (registrations for this close on the 7th of Feb)

Prizes up for grabs include a prize pool of R100,000 for the end-of-year DGL 2012 Championships for Battlefield 3 – sponsored by EA and Gaming Inc. – and for Modern Warfare 3, Megarom have sponsored R50,000 and Monster Energy R10,000 towards the 2012 Championships.

This marks the biggest number of registrations for the league to date, and according to DoGaming, the league fell just short of breaking the 2500 entry mark – but hopes to get there in the next leg.

If you’re interested in signing up for Gears 3 or DOTA 2, you can do so for Gears here and DOTA here.

Later in the year, DGL plan to support Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as well as more StarCraft 2 (presumably Heart of the Swarm) – so watch out for that.

The league kicks off on 7 February.
