PSA: Ubisoft moving servers, games going offline

2 February 2012

In news that is absolutely impossible not to have a good chuckle at, Ubisoft will be transitioning the hosting of many of its online services from a third-party data centre to a new facility starting on the 7th of February 2012.

This means that, because it’s Ubisoft, and because Ubisoft has the foresight of a man sleeping on an active railway line, a number of their PC (Windows & Mac) games will be offline for the duration.

These include:

  • Assassin’s Creed (Mac)
  • Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. 2 (PC)
  • Might & Magic: Heroes VI (PC)
  • Splinter Cell Conviction (Mac)
  • The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom (PC)
  • The Settlers (Mac)

Uplay and all Ubisoft websites will be down, except for the official Ubisoft forums and the Ubisoft Consumer Service.

Ubisoft reassures players that PC games will remain available for everyone who has already connected at least once.

It’s difficult not to feel sorry for what’s left of Ubisoft’s PC market.
