Metro: Last Light release window moved back

3 February 2012

THQ has announced that its thriller-shooter sequel, Metro: Last Light, will now be released in 2013, as opposed to its previously planned late 2012 release period.

The announcement was made during an investor call yesterday (2 February 2012). According to the publisher, 4A Games requires more time to polish the game before release.

THQ boss Brian Farrell mentioned that the game is a major focus for THQ. He also promised that the publisher would spend about twice as much on marketing the title as it did on the first game.

Metro: Last Light will be set in 2034, and once again will take place in the Moscow Metro. It will take place after the “bad” ending from Metro 2033, in which Artyom launches a devastating attack on the “Dark Ones”.

We really enjoyed Metro 2033, and awarded it 75/100.

About Metro Last light

It is the year 2034. Beneath the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside – and within.

Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above.

But rather than stand united, the station-cities of the Metro are locked in a struggle for the ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6. A civil war is stirring that could wipe humanity from the face of the earth forever.

As Artyom, burdened by guilt but driven by hope, you hold the key to our survival – the last light in our darkest hour…
