Bioware is advising gamers to hold on to their Mass Effect 3 saves – but they aren’t saying why.
Speaking to Gamerzines, associate producer Mike Gamble says, “It wouldn’t be a bad idea.” Keeping it coy, he adds, “Obviously I can’t say anything, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea…”
Oh Mike, you big tease.
What we already know is that the Mass Effect world will live on post-Mass Effect 3, but it’ll be a world without Commander Shepard. As Bioware puts it, Shepard’s story “will come to an end”, which sounds suspiciously like he’s going to get dropped down an elevator shaft.
So why the save games? The obvious answers are some kind of sequel or prequel, or less exciting, some downloadable content.
As for Commander Shepard’s story “coming to an end”, Bioware told Eurogamer that the ending is probably going to make some people very angry.
“It’s going to make some people extremely happy; it’s going to make some people angry,” Gamble said. “But that’s part of it, right? To invoke the emotion putting some of these stories to bed will naturally bring up.”
Please, please can it just be better than Lost.
I still have to finish ME2 so I can carry over my shepherd to ME3. Hope the ending doesn’t disappoint, whatever happens to him…
