THQ has tanked their quarterly financial by foolishly making a product beginning with a lowercase “u”, when everyone knows the real money is made with an “i”. That’s the difference between selling 14 million units of overpriced products no one needs and having those products sit on your shelves, mocking you.
The uDraw may have been a bigger flop than Waterworld, but THQ has to do something to cut the $100 million loss, and they’re hoping that someone out there will be willing to buy these at a drastically reduced price – I’m sure they’d make a great coaster.
As for the target market, they say “perhaps at non-traditional game retailers and discount stores”, which sounds suspiciously like “people who don’t know any better”.
While the original recommended retail price was an optimistic 70 pounds (R870), THQ isn’t saying exactly how much lower they’re going to go (but you can get one off Amazon for a modest 24 pounds(R300)).
