The Last Of Us will have online components

Speaking to Game Informer, The Last Of Us director, Bruce Straley, confirmed that the PS3-exclusive title will have some form of online capabilities.

But he’s not entirely sure what, yet.

“We’re going to have some sort of online component,” he said, “We’re working on a bunch of ideas, but we haven’t nailed anything down. We definitely know it’s going to be awesome.”

Alright, it’s almost a given that games these days come with some sort of online part – even games that are intensively single-player; but should they just put the component in just for the sake of it?

From what we know about the game, the main focus is on a rather isolated duo in the form of Joel and Ellie – wandering in a post-apocalyptic world. Whether this world opens itself to something more crowded remains to be seen.

Or perhaps they won’t do multiplayer at all, and go in another direction entirely.

It’s still early days, with The Last Of Us looking at a likely 2013 release – so there’s still plenty of room for new developments as more information becomes available.

What sort of online capabilities would you like to see in The Last Of Us? Or would you prefer it stay isolated from the mean online world, altogether? Share your thoughts on the forum, or in the comments below.
