Rockstar San Diego is hiring

7 February 2012

Rockstar San Diego recently put up a bunch of job listings calling for people who need to be “ready for the challenges posed by large scale open worlds with complex AI and physics.”

Open world game…let’s have a look at what open world games Rockstar San Diego have in their portfolio:

There’s Midnight Club, which could be open-world – but really, its core-focus is racing. Smuggler’s Run reboot? Also a possibility, but that franchise has somewhat dropped off of the map over the years.

Oh, wait, there’s this other little open-world game they have. We almost over-looked it completely – Red Dead Redemption.

Hmmmm.

In all seriousness, these job listings do point in that sort of direction; Rockstar are listing for an AI Programmer, Senior Prop Artist, Lead VFX Artist, Tools Programmer, Gameplay Programmer, Network Programmer – all for work on a title heading to PS3, Xbox and PC.

Alternatively it could be for an entirely new IP, DLC or anything at all, really – but we choose a Red Dead sequel because we fantasize about being cowboys and shooting up the wild west.

I’m sure they’ll also need someone to make coffee for all those programmers. I volunteer!!!
