World of WarCraft’s Kalimdor recreated in Minecraft

8 February 2012

It really was only a matter of time and that time is now – somebody has built World of WarCraft’s entire Kalimdor continent in Minecraft, with the rest of Azeroth already in the works.

“My pet project has been to recreate a full-scale version of World of Warcraft inside Minecraft,” writes user Rumsey over on the official Minecraft forum. “The creation of the world is largely automated by custom software which I’ve been developing over the last few weeks.

“The same process will be used to re-create the entire game, including all continents and dungeons.”

Rumsey adds that the only real problem he’s had is Minecraft’s height limit, which suggests he’s not aware of other problems he might have, like borderline insanity.

“Many zones exceed 128 blocks, so I’ve needed to use mods to increase the height limit. Once I’m satisfied with the quality of the maps, they will most likely be hosted online.”

Think that’s impressive? Quick, somebody make… wait, no, it doesn’t get madder than this. Awesome.
