This is just about the saddest thing I’ve seen all day, including the courier delivery first thing this morning that wasn’t flowers from a tall, handsome man – just a bunch of DVDs and Blu-rays I’d ordered for myself.
Konami’s latest 3DS dating sim, New LovePlus (the sequel to LovePlus and LovePlus+, and presumably a prequel to New LovePlus+) hits shops in Japan today, alongside the company’s hot new Girlfriend Mail service, which is almost exactly what it sounds like.
For ¥315 (just over R30) a month, subscribers will receive emails from their pretend-girlfriends, talking about their “day-to-day activities”, according to a report on Siliconera. I’m not entirely sure what virtual girlfriends get up to during the day, but something tells me they’re seeing other guys too.
For ¥200 (about R2o), users can also purchase the LovePlus Tools app on the Nintendo eShop, which includes a feature for snapping photos of your pretend-girlfriend so you can print them out and show your friends.
“Oh, and this was when we went and locked ourselves in the bathroom for five minutes,” says Hypothetical New LovePlus Promo Guy. “Good times.”
