Speaking in a Q&A over on Rockstar’s site regarding Max Payne 3, the GTA developer has confirmed that the original Max Payne will be heading on over to iOS. When? In the next couple of months, actually.
“Following the release of Grand Theft Auto III for iOS (and Android devices) late last year, the original Max Payne will be our next release for mobile devices. We will have an official announcement soon confirming the release date, but you can expect it to finally be released sometime in the next couple months.”
GTA III on iOS was clearly a big success for them, so going with Max next makes a lot of sense – especially considering that Max Payne 3’s release is fast-approaching.
Max Payne, if you recall, was a gritty, noir tale of detective Max Payne running-and-gunning through New York City, uncovering the conspiracy surrounding the murder of his wife and child – all while wearing the most constipated expression in gaming. We can’t wait to revisit that image.
Presumably, and this is really becoming a given around here, Max Payne iOS won’t be available locally, so get your US/EU iTunes accounts ready for this one.

9mm HD already has bullet time and possibly looks better than Max Payne, runs on ipad and droid and actually is a new ip with a new story. That’s what I play on the loo 🙂 That and flick soccer!
