Indie studio Mojang, creators of Minecraft, are running a livestream for charity over the course of the weekend – you can watch it right now!
The stream will show the developers creating a new game from scratch, using an online poll that fans can vote on to choose the direction the game will go in. The studio is using both the most popular and least popular choices from each poll, and are currently working on “an ancient Egyptian steampunk real-time strategy racing game”, whatever the hell that is is your guess.
You can watch their progress, and afterwards you’ll be able to buy the game in another iteration of a Humble Bundle. Unlike most Humble Bundles however, some of the revenue isn’t going to charity – ALL of it is. You can divide your donation as you choose between four charities, Child’s Play, The Electronic Frontier Foundation, Charity: Water and The American Red Cross.
Mojang have made a short video explaining the whole thing, check it out, then check out the stream – not only is it for a good cause, but it lets you see what actual game development really looks like. It’s reality TV at its best, and guaranteed to have no *Snooki.
