The original Angry Birds was, and is a global sensation, making small studio Rovio a few bajillion dollars and making it’s way onto every smartphone, coffee mug and Chinese bootleg T-shirt in the world.
A cash cow like that can’t be left out to pasture, and Rovio has now announced their next game in the franchise, Angry Birds Space, will be launching on March 22nd. Which exact platforms will be supported at launch wasn’t specified, but we can reportedly expect “simultaneous launches in mobile gaming, animation, retail, and publishing.” With the success of the original, there’s no doubt the launch of its sequel will be huge.
Rovio themselves say as much, touting it as “the biggest game launch since the original Angry Birds.”
If you’re wondering what’s different this time around, Rovio have listed the following new features: zero gravity physics, slow-motion and lightspeed destruction; amongst others I’m sure. The original Angry Birds has just passed 700 million downloads, and finally made its way onto Facebook.
