For a while now we’ve been expecting the next Battlefield 3 patch to land in February, based on information provided by a member of the DICE team.
However, community manage Daniel Matros has said that the information was actually incorrect. When asked if the February patch was “still on track”, Matros replied, “No. It was announced by someone who got the dates wrong,” adding that “the date was never really correct anyway.”
It’s not all bad news though, Gameplay Designer Gustav Halling has said that the next patch is going to be a substantial one, but he’s not saying when we’re getting it.
“[We’re] working on a big one, no ETA when it’s out, these things take time,” he said. As for the exact details they’re staying pretty tight-lipped, but did mention that there will be a lot of fixes and tweaks, according to Matros “it’s a big fixlist”.
The BF2 patches were always loaded onto local ftp sites at WA etc. so pulling them is not such a ball ache for cap-sensitive users. I just hope Origin doesn’t have a fannywobble when you don’t update via it.
