Borderlands 2 gets launch date, special edition launch date trailer

22 February 2012

There ain’t no rest for the wicked
Money don’t grow on trees
I got bills to pay
I got mouths to feed
Ain’t nothing in this world for free

That’s why I got to go back to Pandora, mama, and the boss has just confirmed I’m shippin’ out on 21 September. Tell Bobby-Ray and Peggy-Jim I’ll bring ’em some guns.

“The addictive gameplay and shooting and looting mayhem of the first Borderlands is back and better than ever in Borderlands 2, taking the franchise to an entirely new level,” said 2K prez, Christoph Hartmann.

According to the official press blurb, the game features “all-new characters; skills; imaginative, diverse new environments with unique missions and enemies; and more exciting and fun weapons, equipment and loot than ever before” – which is basically game-industry-speak for “more of the same”.

Pre-order goodies include the Gearbox Gun Pack, a Golden Key, and the Vault Hunters Relic. The Gearbox Gun Pack is a collection of unique guns, and the Golden Key is an in-game item used to unlock a rare item in the mysterious Golden Sanctuary Loot Chest.

Spoiler: It’s probably another gun.
