At 20:00 SAST, Wednesday the 22nd of February, ArenaNet announced that beta sign-ups for the hugely anticipated massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Guild Wars 2, had opened up.
Eager applicants are asked during the sign-up process to download a DxDiag tool humorously named “Scannertron” that will send their PC specifications into the ether and then launch a browser for the next part of the process.
Sign-ups are expected to close on Friday, 24 of February at 20:00 SAST.
The huge influx of excited players resulted in some “technical trouble” over at ArenaNet which has reportedly been resolved.
Guild Wars 2 public beta is expected to begin sometime in March with many MMO lovers hoping that it will be the one to revolutionise all MMOs.
With a raised level cap of 80, a new quest event system, character biographies and underwater exploration, Guild Wars 2 is proving to be ambitious.
As with the original game, Guild Wars 2 will be subscription-free, requiring players to only make a once-off purchase.
Beta sign-ups can be done over at the official site: https://beta.guildwars2.com/
