2K Games has announced that when Borderlands 2 is released later this year, it will come with Steamworks built-in.
Of course, this only applies to the PC version, and it means that players will have to have Steam installed to play the game.
“Borderlands 2 players will enjoy the benefits of Steamworks features, such as Steam Achievements, downloadable content, auto-updating, multiplayer matchmaking, Steam Cloud support and more,” said 2K in an announcement.
This does not mean that players have to have an active internet connection to play the game, but it does mean that they will have to have an active internet connection to install the game.
Borderlands 2 is currently being developed by Gearbox Software and is due out on 18 September, 2012.
