A ghastly video shot with what may be a cellular phone reveals what appears to be a God of War IV teaser trailer.
Assuming that you, like me, can’t stomach all that wobbling about and your ears can’t make out anything more than static inflections and background noise, Italian site 4News has been kind enough to suffer a transcript of arguable accuracy for us:
“Brother, the phoenix has been drinking your blood, full of your anger, your strength and during her rebirth, she also has let you in life. Now I ask you, what are you going to do? Would you leave me here in Hell?”
“Kratos! Wake up, wake up!”
If taken literally, and not interpreted as a form of ancient-Grecian street slang, Kratos has one full brother (and a number of half-brothers).
Deimos is the most likely candidate to be addressing Kratos – he is the younger brother who was killed during God of War: Ghost of Sparta, an “interquel” set between God of War and God of War II. As with all dead things, Deimos’ soul will likely have wound up in Hades, and there are many hints throughout God of War III that allude to this.
This comes a few days before the Game Developers Conference and after a controversial listing for the game popped up at our local BT Games website and made international headlines.
Whether it really is a leak remains debatable and a proper trailer might just make it on to YouTube before the week is done if it’s legitimate.
All the same, it looks like God of War IV is probably a real thing.
