Fable brothers leave Lionhead Studios

4 March 2012

The Carter brothers, of the Dene and Simon persuasion, were instrumental to Lionhead‘s figurehead series, Fable.

Simon is fondly remembered for his part in the Bullfrog team that produced Dungeon Keeper and as a former Lionhead tech director.

He announced that he would be vacating his position in June 2011 to focus on producing digitally distributed titles for PC and console, calling it a “very difficult” decision.

The departure of his brother Dene, a year later, comes as little surprise.

The Carters have reunited and formed a UK-based studio called ‘Another Place Productions’ and will be joined by former art director John McCormack, technical director Guillaume Portes and executive producer, Jeremie Texier – all former employees of Lionhead Studios.

How the loss of such critical members will affect Lionhead remains to be seen.

With over ten years of experience and renown in the gaming industry, these heavyweights have some high hopes pinned on them.

Another Place Productions will be focusing on “high-quality, meaningful experiences” for the PSN, XBLA, Steam and mobile platforms.
