MSSA calls for gaming umpires

6 March 2012

Umpires quite obviously play a critical role in the proceedings of competitive gaming matches. To this end, Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA), an affiliate of the South African Confederation of Sport and Olympic Committee, has put out the call for potential umpires in 2012.

“Umpiring is more than just a task; it is also a wonderful way to put back into the game and for senior gamers to share some of their knowledge with all the other gamers,” said the MSSA. “Thus, the MSSA expects gamers who have earned colours in the past to volunteer to umpire.”

Any gamer, who has provincial or national colours (and is over the age of 18) is expected to umpire if they want to be eligible for team selection.

Of course, those who volunteer will get first choice, whereas those who are merely assigned to a competition will have limited options.

To volunteer your services, please contact Donald Mullany: [email protected] or 074 117 0701.
