CD Projekt: smaller DLC should be free

7 March 2012

Yes, I know you don’t want to have to pay for small add-ons, but you know who doesn’t want you to either? CD Projekt Red, the guys who made some fine games called The Witcher and The Witcher 2 – you might have heard of them.

“I think all of the smaller DLCs should be free,” Witcher 2 lead quest designer, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, told MCV.

“In my opinion, you shouldn’t pay for such small packs for to the game. I have no problem with buying an add-on to a game which adds a lot of hours of gameplay and a lot of new content, like expansions used to be in the past.

“But small DLCs, such as individual items – a customer shouldn’t be forced to pay for that.”

Blame the commercial success of horse armour, I guess.

CD Projekt has already released a heap of free DLC for The Witcher 2, and the Xbox version – shipping out in April – includes all of it straight out of the box at no extra charge. Yessss.
