PSA: JHBGamers event tomorrow!

If you live in Joburg, and you’re looking for a good reason to be okay with that, then you should go to the JHBGamers event in Sandton tomorrow. Why? Because you’ll be able to play with Pokémon cards in a safe, non-judgemental environment with other people just like you.

“There will be local players showing you how the game works and a mini tournament for those that wish to participate,” JHBGamers’ main man, Jarrod Lane, told us.

“Core has also offered to supply light snacks and drinks for the day. Giveaways have been supplied by EA South Africa as well, with a few games across all the platforms up for grabs, not to mention MASS EFFECT 3 on each platform up for grabs!”

It’s all happening at the iStore on Sandton Drive in Sandton, and starts at 11am. Directions are over on the official Facebook event page, linked below.

“JHBGamers is a community project, using the common cliche of, by gamers for gamers. We are looking to bring like-minded people together in fun, relaxed environments where we can socialise and talk about the things we love, like gaming, maiming, teabagging, and such,” explained Jarrod.

“We also want to bring the press, distributors, vendors and any other entity that deals in our world to meet the local gamer at face value. This gives us, the gamers, a great chance to meet the people in the industry, see the faces behind the avatars, [be it] their favourite news site, retail store they frequent – or the guys and girls that get the games into our borders.

“We aim to keep the events occuring at least on a monthly level, offering games for people to play on the day and even some prizes and giveaways.

“Also pizza and beer!”

Pizza and beer? Count me in. Well, you could if I lived in Joburg, which I don’t – and my teleportation capsule is in for repairs.
