As gamers we are regularly bombarded with sequels, clones, or games that are simply derivative of industry standards that anyone who plays a lot of games is probably getting just a little bored of right now.
But every now and then an indie developer somewhere squeaks out something just interesting enough to make me do a double take.
That’s what “Sir, You Are Being Hunted” did when I stumbled across it on Big-Robot’s website last night.
Quirky sentence-structure title? Check.
Interesting visual design? Check
Kooky gameplay concept? Check.
Sir, You Are Being Hunted looks to tap into the “rich seam of tweed-loving British science fiction to conjure a sinister reality where artificial gentlemen hunt humans for sport.”
Apparently the phrase “British indie STALKER” was thrown around a bit in design meetings.
“Hunted is set in a recognisably British landscape. Its inhabitants are a mockery of the aristocratic country gent and his ecosystem. Robots that ape tea-drinking, poachers that lurk in reed-beds, and red-eyed hounds that patrol the moor: these are the things you will be dealing with as you fight for survival.”
“The game gathers up elements of my favourite things: exploration, AI interaction, survival, robots, hot drinks, and blends them into a rich pixelly pulp,” said Big-Robot’s Jim Rossignol.
More information, including videos and actual gameplay details are expected to be released in the next few days, so what this space.
