Proving that sometimes good things can come out of bad things, the people behind a petition to change the ending of Mass Effect 3 have also added a Child’s Play charity donation page.
That way, you can complain about made-up stuff you don’t like AND save real children, at the same time. It’s a little bit of magic.
The Retake Mass Effect ChipIn page was launched yesterday and has already raised just over $28,000.
“The Retake Mass Effect – Child’s Play donation drive is a community driven effort to bring positive attention to our petition for an alternate ending to the fantastic Mass Effect series. The Child’s Play charity was chosen as a charity started by gamers to provide video games for the patients at Children’s Hospitals all over the world,” reads the official mission statement.
“We would like to dispel the perception that we are angry or entitled. We simply wish to express our hope that there could be a different direction for a series we have all grown to love.”
The petition is asking that BioWare add an ending to the game that “provides a better sense of accomplishment” and, perhaps more importantly, actually makes some kind of sense.
