Apex Interactive has clarified the retail release dates for Piranha Bytes’ Risen 2: Dark Waters in South Africa.
PC gamers can expect to swash their buckles on 4 May 2012, and Xbox and PS3 gamers on 25 May 2012.
The action-RPG title will also be available via digital distribution channels on 27 April 2012.
In Risen 2: Dark Waters, the Inquisition dispatches the hero to seek a remedy against the monstrous sea creatures that are interfering with the shipping lines, thus cutting off the islands’ supplies. The pirates seem to know how to deal with these critters… but they are hardly cooperative.
Firearms have been added to the gameplay, and being pirates, players can also employ new skills called Dirty Tricks, allowing them to confuse or attack enemies in combat.
Unlike most RPGs, Risen 2 does not give the player the option to choose a character or class. Players gain experience points by questing and killing stuff, and level up their heroes using learning points. Learning points can be spent with Trainers.
Heroes can use a wide variety of weapons, or if players choose to focus on the mage path they can customize their hero to be more proficient with magic.
The game is semi-open world, where each island represents a separate area with its own loading screen.
