Brian Fargo – inXile boss, Wasteland creator, and this month’s Kickstarter superstar – has made good on his idea to push money back into Kickstarter by officially launching a new Kicking It Forward initiative with a proper website and everything.
“I have received a tremendous response to the ‘Kicking it Forward’ concept with all of it being extremely positive. As expected, there have also been a number of questions so I would like to clarify the concept as best I can,” writes Fargo in the website’s introduction.
“Any developer that puts the ‘Kicking it Forward’ badge on their Kickstarter project page is agreeing that they will put 5% of their finished product profits back into other Kickstarter projects. To be abundantly clear, this is only money that the developer earns as profit AFTER the project ships and AFTER they have paid their expenses. This is NOT a suggestion to invest money they received from people who invested into their project via Kickstarter.”
Fargo’s already leading the way… forward by putting the badge on his own Kickstarter project page for Wasteland 2, which has now passed the $1.5 million mark. Assuming he sells at least one copy of the game for $20, that’s already $1 back into Kickstarter. Think of all the things I could do with that $1.
