At EVE Fanfest 2012, which took place over the past weekend, developer CCP Games in partnership with Nvidia showcased a demo of EVE Online running in DirectX11 mode.
The demo applied full tessellation to an EVE Sansha spaceship and also to asteroids in real time. It also added some dynamic lighting and shadow affects. The demo also appeared to add more advanced physics to the engine, with rocks shattering organically as they hit the ship.
According to CCP, it would take the development team about a year to add full DirectX 11 support, and the developer is asking for community feedback on the matter.
Furthermore, CCP and Nvidia discussed the possibility of teaming up and allowing players to buy an Nvidia GTX 560 using in-game currency. Something tells me this won’t apply to South Africans.
