FIFA 12 getting Euro 2012 expansion pack

30 March 2012

EA Sports have announced that instead of releasing another standalone title for the upcoming Euro 2012 event, FIFA 12 will be getting an expansion pack, which adds new content and the acclaimed tournament’s features.

Players will get the chance to compete in an online version of the tournament – grueling through the pool stages, into the knockout stage and eventually the play-offs for the coveted trophy.

A feature called Expedition Mode will also allow the building and customization of a national squad for the competition.

Virtual Pro also gets an update, as the mode will get some real-world themed challenges and online multiplayer.

The concept of a DLC expansion is probably the best idea for EA, given that with FIFA Street just being released and FIFA 13 on the horizon for the end of the year, three retail releases would somewhat water-down the FIFA name throughout 2012.

The Euro 2012 Expansion Pack will be available for download on the 24th of April and is expected to be priced at £15.99 (1800 MS Points/2500 FIFA Points on PC), so approximately just under R200.
