Tony Hawk gets nostalgic with HD remake

Prolific skateboarder Tony Hawk hasn’t had the best of luck with his video game franchise, as the Activision published series’ golden-years seem to be behind us, with more recent iterations, such as Ride and Shred, being abysmal at best.

The Birdman seems to be aware of this and news regarding a mashed-up HD remake of his earlier games hit the internet late last year; but now we’re finally getting a glimpse of the digital resurrection in action.

Tony Hawk, along with the help of street skating phenomenon Chris Cole, show off the THPS HD remake and visit two very familiar levels that fans will recognise: THPS’s Warehouse and THPS 2’s School.

The downloadable game will not be an HD porting of the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, but rather a blend of levels from the first two installments, remade in a brand new engine designed for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Confirmed playable characters include Tony Hawk, Chris Cole, Eric Koston, Nyjah Huston, Andrew Reynolds, Rodney Mullen, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins (Pastrana), and Tony’s son Riley Hawk.

Besides the Warehouse and School 2 levels from the original games, the Mall, Phoenix, Hangar, Marseilles, Downhill and Venice Beach have also been confirmed for the remake.
