The rumours surrounding Sony’s hinted reveal to be a God of War game have proven true, although its not God of War IV.
God of War: Ascension is the new Sony title from their Santa Monica studio, and looks set to go back in time as a prequel within the famed hack and slash series.
Sony haven’t actually revealed the game, but Amazon seemed got the jump on the story and posted a teaser trailer and box art (whether final or not).
The trailer itself shows no gameplay, but is narrated by none other than Gaia herself, as she speaks about a time before Kratos’ was “bound by blood”, further adding weight to the notion of the game being a prequel.
Amazon describes the game: “Join Kratos as he seeks freedom, redemption, and the clarity to avenge his family in the most ambitious God of War adventure in the series so far.”
Although we would’ve liked to see where the series went after God of War III, the idea surrounding a game chronicling Kratos’ time as a Spartan general and his rise to power sounds enticing (if it is to be true).
