Silent Hill movie sequel hitting cinemas before year-end

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is set to land in theaters towards the end of the year.

US Distributor Open Road Films have confirmed that the sequel will arrive in time for Halloween on October 26th, predicting that it’ll hit South African shores within a week or two from then.

TriStar Pictures’ original Silent Hill film (released in 2006) is one of the few game-to-movie adaptation success stories, as it grossed nearly $100 million at the worldwide box office, as well as received a positive reception from gamers and fans of the series.

The sequel is being produced by Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody, who handled the first movie.

Radha Mitchell (Rose Da Silva) and Sean Bean (Christopher Da Silva) return, although the movie will revolve around their daughter Heather Mason, played by Adelaide Clemens (X-Men Origins: Wolverine); as she realises she is not who she originally thought and is thrown into the alternate reality that is Silent Hill.

Jeff Danna, who did the soundtrack for the first movie, along with Silent Hill game soundtrack composer Akira Yamaoka, are both on-board, ensuring that the creepy and eerie mood of the foggy town is captured perfectly.
