Word regarding the cancellation of Prey 2 came as a sorrowful surprise to fans as it was looking packed-full of potential – thankfully it appears that those rumours weren’t true.
Bethesda doesn’t want to risk the quality and integrity of the sequel project due to rushing, and apparently the game just needs more time in development.
“The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want… we are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule” said Bethesda.
Prey 2 is set to throw gamers into the shoes of an intergalactic bounty-hunter, and mixes FPS elements with quick and fluid traversal gameplay.
Prey 2 was first revealed at E3 2011 and scheduled for a 2012 release, but looks as if the sci-fi shooter will slip into 2013 or maybe beyond.
