With the Avengers movie releasing locally this week, a lot of people are probably wondering where the official video game is.

It will never be released. Most gamers will probably lift their noses to a movie tie-in, given the quality standards we’re used to from movie-to-game adaptions, but you should take note of the Avengers game that could have been.

THQ halted development of the project a while ago, but some pre-alpha gameplay footage of the cancelled game did manage to slip out.

The video itself is quite interesting, as the game takes the form of a first-person action adventure, where players were set to take control of Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America.

While the gameplay is a little choppy and unpolished, one can definitely see the potential the game may of had.
