The problem with everything today is there just aren’t enough adverts. I mean, it’s like every time something goes wrong, I find myself thinking, “You know, this wouldn’t have happened if we had more adverts”. We need more adverts, or we’re facing the very real possibility that the whole world could end.
With that in mind then, Microsoft has announced that they’re bringing more adverts to Xbox LIVE, by adding 15-30 second adverts to the console’s video and TV apps. You know, it’s exactly what the Xbox really needed.
“With the growth of Xbox Live, advertisers no longer have to choose between digital and TV advertising – we’re offering the impact of TV and the interactivity and addressability of digital in one platform,” Ross Honey, general manager of Xbox Live Entertainment and Advertising, told Eurogamer.
“As more and more industry leaders like ESPN work with us to help monetize their content on Xbox Live, TV media buyers win with the ability to extend their standard TV spots to this highly engaged consumer audience.”
Although the company has not yet officially confirmed it, the next-gen Xbox is expected to feature video panels on each side of its casing displaying adverts, the entire dashboard will be adverts, and the console’s catalogue of games will be replaced with DVDs of adverts.
