Journey developer to announce new game this year

5 May 2012

Developer of the unique Journey, thatgamecompany, has finished a three-game deal with Sony and is apparently very close to revealing their next project.

They’re currently hunting for a new publisher, and studio co-founder Jenova Chen said, “We’re very close in figuring out what the next deal is. We’re negotiating with various partners, so maybe within the next month, we’ll be able to determine which is the [right deal].”

Chen goes on to say that they have a habit of announcing games early, and this mean we’ll likely hear about the next game sometime this year. “In terms of when you’ll know about the next game, I think we intentionally announce our games very early. We announced Flower half a year after we launched Flow. We announced Journey half a year after we launched Flower. So hopefully within this year, you’ll hear from us about our next game.”

flOw, Flower and Journey all created buzz with their very unique and artistic feel, so all eyes will be on the studio to see who they team up with and what they’re planning next.
