Tomb Raider reboot slips into 2013

Crystal Dynamics have delayed the release of the rebooted Tomb Raider, which will sadly miss this year’s release schedule.

The game, which was supposed to fall into a late 2012 release and now slated for Q1 2013, appears to need a little more time in development, according to studio head, Darrell Gallagher.

“Our priority now is to make sure we fully deliver the very highest quality game. In order to do this, we have decided to move the game’s release date by a few months, from Fall 2012 to the first quarter of 2013,” Gallagher said on Crystal Dynamics’ official forums.

“We’re doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve. We believe this is the right choice and I guarantee it will be worth the wait.”

Although the delay comes as a bit of a disappointment, given how interesting the game looks, Square Enix have promised to show-off some more of Lara’s reincarnated adventure at E3 in a couple weeks.
