Diablo III includes a free Starter Edition Guest Pass in every box

14 May 2012

The thing about killin’ and lootin’, right, is that – like pretty much everything else except maybe going to the toilet – it’s better with friends. And that’s why Blizzard is putting a Diablo III Starter Edition Guest Pass into every box copy of Diablo III.

The Starter Edition is a special trial version of the game, and includes Act I up to the Skeleton King. Players are level capped at 13, however, and have no access to the Real Money Auction House, and are restricted to matchmaking with other Starter Edition players only. But hey, it’s free.

For the moment, people will have to get a Starter Edition pass from a friend to play, but the trial will apparently be unlocked to everybody next month. That’s assuming there’s actually anybody on the planet who hasn’t already bought the game by then.

Diablo III launches at midnight tonight, but you knew that already.
