Rumour control: Ubisoft scrapping Brothers in Arms: Furious 4?

Things are looking pretty grim for World War 2 shooter Brothers in Arms: Furious 4, as publisher Ubisoft seems to have given up its trademarks for the game.

There’s been very little said about the game, in fact zero hype or press at all since it was announced last June. Mention of it was last spotted in a release schedule distributed last month by Ubisoft, which listed it as “Calendar 2012” launch, not very specific for a game supposedly due out this year.

This is compounded by the fact that Assassin’s Creed 3 and Far Cry 3 have had aggressive marketing campaigns and solid dates set, which makes the tight-lipped approach to Furious 4 rather dubious.

Kotaku asked for comment from the publisher, and the response was less-than-promising, “We don’t have anything to share at this point in time.”

There’s been no word from developer Gearbox either – but things are looking pretty grim.
