Silicon Knights vs. Epic: lawsuit down to $1 per claim

The legal wrangling between Epic Games and Silicon Knights, which has now been going on for longer than anybody has even been alive, is finally coming to a close – but it’s not turning out the way Silicon Knights might have anticipated.

The studio originally sued Epic for $58 million in damages after (basically, because it’s complicated) claiming that Epic had failed to provide adequate support for the Unreal Engine 3 during the development of Too Human.

That amount has now been reduced to just $1 per claim, a judge ruled this week, presumably banging his gavel and saying, “Sick burn, bro.” Apparently Silicon Knights failed to provide adequate support for the allegations. It’s irony or something almost exactly like it.

That’s assuming Silicon Knights even wins the case. At this point, it might be less humiliating to lose it and say that’s what they’d planned all along.

The case is expected to go on for another week.
