Nathan Drake lands up in Star Trek 2

The most well known voice in the video game world is that of Nolan North’s.

The veteran motion-capture and voice artist, who has played Nathan Drake in Uncharted as well as over 100 other roles (seriously, this guy doesn’t’ stop), is about to take another journey out of the voice booth and onto the big-screen.

North has been cast in the upcoming sequel to 2009’s Star Trek reboot, which saw director J.J. Abrams take over and produce a film that was acclaimed by critics, and more importantly, Star Trek fans.

Abrams is apparently a huge fan of the Uncharted series, and upon meeting Nolan North, asked the voice actor if he’d like a part in the Star Trek follow-up.

“I just worked on Star Trek 2 with J. J. Abrams,” he revealed to Eurogamer.

“The reason I did that movie – it’s a very small role – but it’s because he and his son are huge fans of Uncharted. I met him doing some work on Super 8 and he said ‘We’re doing Start Trek, you wanna do it?’ And I said I’d love to.”

“He’s a huge fan of gaming and he was telling me how people just don’t understand [the medium] yet, but they’re going to catch up. They don’t understand how amazing this technology is and it doesn’t get the respect it deserves, but if it keeps making the money it makes you’re going to see more and more people converted.

The vocal work of Nolan North can be heard in the upcoming 2K shooter Spec Ops: The Line, in which he plays protagonist Captain Martin Walker, a special ops soldier sent into a sandstorm-ravaged Dubai in search of a former army Colonel.
