Shadow of the Colussus movie gets director

In case you didn’t know, a Shadow of the Colossus movie plan has been floating around Hollywood for a while now, as Sony Pictures have been looking for the right men (or women) for the job.

Well, it seems things are coming together for probably the most ambitious film idea since The Avengers.

Chronicle director Josh Trank has reportedly signed on with Sony Pictures and will head up the game-to-film adaption. Trank, along with Sony, are interviewing potential writers to pen a script.

It seems that things are also slow on both ends of the spectrum, as the game’s developer, Team ICO, haven’t released anything since the 2005 colossi-killer, and nothing more has been shown of their long-awaited spiritual successor, The Last Guardian.

And for those of you who haven’t played Shadow of the Colossus, there’s now an HD remake – there’s now no excuse.

Here’s the closest thing you’ll get to a live-action movie for now:
