EA have released a brand new animated short on the official Dead Space website, which touches on some previous rumours that slipped out earlier this month.
The animated comic shows John Carver, a new character in the Dead Space fiction, as he carries out a routine patrol on planet Uxor. After witnessing an attack on the Marker site the planet houses, he is introduced to the necromorph plague and has to quickly realise that he has a role to play in fighting the necromorph hordes and setting things right.
Although never seen before, the short seems incredibly familiar, as it resembles the information that leaked out in early May.
The details suggested that Dead Space 3 would feature co-op play with “a man with a gnarly scar on his face, an engineering RIG of his own, and glowing red eyes peering from his helmet” who “acts as Isaac’s guide”.
It’s not certain whether the animated short is a prequel or even related to the unannounced Dead Space 3, although the leaked information seems pretty spot-on given that the video shows off all the above details.
No details are confirmed from EA, but the idea of a Dead Space co-op experience is something worth getting excited for. Hopefully we’ll have some clarity on what’s happening with the Dead Space franchise once E3 swings around shortly.
