Steve Jobs’ 1974 Atari memo to be auctioned

Steve Jobs’ handwritten memo to the Atari game company in 1974 is set to be auctioned off.

The written note describes changes that Job suggested to Atari with regards to their World Cup Soccer arcade game which was being developed at the time.

Jobs worked at Atari for a brief period prior to co-founding Apple with Steve Wozniak, who also helped develop hardware to run a single-player version of Pong.

The memo is set to fetch up to $15,000 (R124,932*) through the Sotherby’s auction.

Sotheby’s is also auctioning a working Apple I motherboard, complete with cassette interface, operating manuals, and a BASIC Users Manual. Fewer than 50 Apple I computers are thought to have survived, with only six known to be in working condition, Sotheby’s said. The lot is expected to fetch $120,000 to $150,000 (R1 million – R1,25 million*)

The auction is scheduled for June 15.
